Living to Advance Unreached Nations Choosing His Heart

Knowing His voice…

Scripture: Daniel 2:20-23

” Daniel answered, blessed be the name of the God of Heaven! For wisdom and might are His. He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals the deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness and the light dwells with Him. I thank You and praise You O God of my fathers, who has given me wisdom and might and has made known to me what we desired of You, for You have made known to us the solution to the kings problem.”

This story of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego is so wild. These four men along with countless of Israelites marched to Nebuchadnezzar’ kingdom to basically become slaves for the king. For three years they were to eat special food, drink special wine and maintain a physical form that is “worthy” to be in the presence of the King. Truly this reveals that man looks at the outer appearance, but God looks at the heart. Anyways… They did not want to defile themselves by eating and drinking what the king had given them, so they found favor with the guard and just by eating vegetables and water and staying faithful to their God, they became the most physically fit and in the presence of the king they were found to be ten times more wise than all the other men whom the King met with. Not only were they given a place of authority and influence, but God used Daniel to interrupt the King’s dream that no other magician, enchanter, soothsayer, sorcerer, or diviner could. The King was ready to wipe all of them out, but Daniel asked the King to give him time and he would reveal to him the dream that had been distressing the king and the interruption of that dream. Daniel knew the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He knew His God was a God who delivered and in the natural when it was impossible before man, God would supernaturally bring the deliverance that was needed. So Daniel asked the Lord to show him the same dream and the interruption that he needed to deliver to the king to save the lives of many people. This specific prayer in these verses are the words of gratitude that Daniel was speaking to the Lord after the Lord had given Him exactly what he was in need of. These men were not moved by what the saw, heard or felt but rested in the presence of the Lord to receive exactly what they needed in their time of need. They were men of character, men of principal men not easily moved by circumstance or by peer pressure. They were solid, unmovable. Unshakeable. And they would not allow the pressure of man to change their actions in the present moment. These same men were challenged later in chapter 3 because they were not bowing town to an idol. Because of their relationship with the Lord and being true to their character they were thrown into a fiery furnace that should have killed them in a minute, but instead the Son of the Living God walked around with them in the fire and they came out without smelling like smoke or even being burned.

Out of our relationship with our heavenly Father flows every other part of our lives. These men were challenged in every area of their lives even to the point of death. They would not be moved, because they knew who they belonged to and they knew that their God is a God who delivers the righteous out of the hand of the enemy. I absolutely believe in this phrase ” Your calling will get you there, but your character will keep you there.” These four men were men of strong character and full of confident trust that the Lord was and will always be their help in time of need. It was because they had spent time in the presence of the Lord and asked specifically for what they were in need of that the Lord heard their prayer and gave them exactly what they were in need of. They not only asked, but they gave thanks unto Him and waited for the Lord to speak and then they were courageous and faithful to fulfill the task ahead. And all of that brought promotion and a new place of influence for the highest authority in the land. let us be true to our character, not moved by peer pressure, or by what we see, hear and feel… but allow the faithfulness of the Lord in our lives draw all men unto Him.

Father how amazing but also truly challenging to look at the lives of these young men who stood unmoved in the face of the impossible. Father, open the eyes of our hearts give us revelation light of the hope to which you have called us. We have been engrafted into the vine… we are no longer, slaves to sin but slaves to righteousness, we are no longer walking around in darkness not knowing our identity, but we are now children of the light because you have given us authority to be, it is Your truth that abides richly in us and it is Your love that sustains us, encourages us and strengthens us to be men and woman of character. You have incredible plans ahead, and we need to walk in the light as you are in the light to allow our character to be molded more and more into who were are in You. Thank you Father for examples of ordinary men who knew their God and who did amazing exploits to help point people to Your Son, Jesus.

In Jesus’ mighty name…amen!

Consider it handled…

Scripture:1 Peter 3:13-22
13-18 If with heart and soul you’re doing good, do you think you can be stopped? Even if you suffer for it, you’re still better off. Don’t give the opposition a second thought. Through thick and thin, keep your hearts at attention, in adoration before Christ, your Master. Be ready to speak up and tell anyone who asks why you’re living the way you are, and always with the utmost courtesy. Keep a clear conscience before God so that when people throw mud at you, none of it will stick. They’ll end up realizing that they’re the ones who need a bath. It’s better to suffer for doing good, if that’s what God wants, than to be punished for doing bad. That’s what Christ did definitively: suffered because of others’ sins, the Righteous One for the unrighteous ones. He went through it all—was put to death and then made alive—to bring us to God.

19-22 He went and proclaimed God’s salvation to earlier generations who ended up in the prison of judgment because they wouldn’t listen. You know, even though God waited patiently all the days that Noah built his ship, only a few were saved then, eight to be exact—saved from the water by the water. The waters of baptism do that for you, not by washing away dirt from your skin but by presenting you through Jesus’ resurrection before God with a clear conscience. Jesus has the last word on everything and everyone, from angels to armies. He’s standing right alongside God, and what he says goes.

Wow, these verses are so powerful! What do you think of this statement? “if with your heart and soul you’re doing good, do you think you can be stopped?” The bible says that out of the abundance of our heart our mouths will speak, also death and life are in the power of the tongue. But the question is, how is what is happening on the inside affecting me externally? Our soul, which is our mind, will and emotions can take us on a roller coaster ride if we do not keep them in check…so that is why the bible says that when we read His word our minds become renewed. So when life happens, persecution is all around us, opposition, finances, relationships… whatever the situation might be, we are able to respond from a position of our eyes are on Jesus because he is our commander and chief, our life is submitted and the battle belongs to Him. Yes, suffering will happen in our life time. Yes, there will be pain. Yes, we will have confusion and chaos at times. Yes, there will be opposition, persecution and sorrow. BUT God…so rich in His mercy that He always provides a way out. Jesus, the righteous one provided a way for us as the unrighteous and suffered unjustly so we could be in right standing with God. There is always a plan. But, it is our job to get instructions from the Lord on how to walk through each situation with our hearts fixed on Him and not distracted by what is happening around us. Jesus is my commander and chief, what He says…goes. I can consider it handled and therefore my testimony will always bring glory to Him.

My job as a child of God is to renew my mind with His word… because when I have His word hidden in my heart it will come out of my mouth and my words create the world I live in. I am to always evaluate my heart, because I can never arise above the condition of my heart. When I am settled within me, when I am at peace, resting in Him, in His strength, and under the shadow of His wings I cannot be stopped! Greater is He that is in me, that he who is in the world. I am more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus…I have been made alive together with Christ Jesus and His life reigns in me!

Father I thank you for your precious Word that reigns in my life. I thank you that I have been raised to new life in Christ Jesus. I have not only been wiped clean, but I have been born again because of what Jesus suffered for me. I choose to keep my eyes on you, I choose to not let life weigh me down when I know that my commander and chief has already won the battle. I thank you for instructions on how to walk through life successfully and how to let the testimony of my life always point to you. I thank you for delivering me the work of the enemy, that through you Jesus I can overcome as you have already over came! In the mighty name of Jesus…amen…so be it!

To all the single ladies becoming the “Virtuous woman”

To all of us single ladies out there – this statement that I heard many, many years ago and minister into the lives of young women today “You can have whatever you are willing to wait for” is so true. But ladies, that statement  points directly right back at us – He can have whatever he is willing to wait for. Do you know that the virtuous woman did not just become this woman over night or when she got married or when she became a mother? No, her character, qualities, gifts, talents, strengths and intimate relationship with the Lord were developed over the years. This woman points me to the woman, wife and mother I desire to be and now as a single woman I am developing the type of woman, wife and mother I am going to be.
The bible says that faith comes by hearing and hearing of the word of God. So just like anything else that you would be believe God for, why not believe God that even now He is preparing you to be the virtuous woman, wife and mother you desire to be. When We confess His word over our lives, it goes down into our hearts, it becomes illumination and then it becomes a revelation that we walk out.
I dare you to declare this over your life, be challenged by it but also be encouraged. Day by day as you meditate on His word that goes into your heart you will begin to see the woman that God has created you to be!!

10 I am capable, intelligent, and [b]virtuous woman—who is he who can find me? I am far more precious than jewels and my value is far above rubies or pearls.

11 The heart of her husband trusts in me confidently and relies on and believes in me securely, so that he has no lack of [honest] gain or need of [dishonest] spoil.

12 I comfort, encourage, and do him only good as long as there is life within me.

13  I seek out wool and flax and works with willing hands [to develop it].

14 I am like the merchant ships loaded with foodstuffs; I bring my household’s food from a far [country].

15 I  rise while it is yet night and gets [spiritual] food for my household and assigns my maids their tasks.

16  I  consider a [new] field before I buy or accept it [expanding prudently and not courting neglect of my present duties by assuming other duties]; with my savings [of time and strength] I plant fruitful vines in her vineyard.

17 I girds herself with strength [spiritual, mental, and physical fitness for my God-given task] and makes my arms strong and firm.

18 I taste and see that my gain from work [with and for God] is good; my lamp goes not out, but it burns on continually through the night [of trouble, privation, or sorrow, warning away fear, doubt, and distrust].

19 I lay her hands to the spindle, and my hands hold the distaff.

20 I open her hand to the poor, yes, she reaches out my filled hands to the needy [whether in body, mind, or spirit].

21 I fear not the snow for her family, for all her household are doubly clothed in scarlet.

22 I make for herself coverlets, cushions, and rugs of tapestry. My clothing is of linen, pure and fine, and of purple [such as that of which the clothing of the priests and the hallowed cloths of the temple were made].

23 My husband is known in the [city’s] gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.

24 I make fine linen garments and leads others to buy them; I deliver to the merchants girdles [or sashes that free one up for service].

25 Strength and dignity are my clothing and my position is strong and secure; I rejoice over the future [the latter day or time to come, knowing that me and my family are in readiness for it]!

26 I open her mouth in skillful and godly Wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness [giving counsel and instruction].

27 I look well to how things go in her household, and the bread of idleness (gossip, discontent, and self-pity) I will not eat.

28 My children rise up and call me blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied); and my husband boasts of and praises me, [saying],

29 [c]Many daughters have done virtuously, nobly, and well [with the strength of character that is steadfast in goodness], but you excel them all.

30 Charm and grace are deceptive, and beauty is vain [because it is not lasting], but a woman who reverently and worshipfully fears the Lord, she shall be praised!

31 Give me of the fruit of her hands, and let my own works praise me in the gates [of the city]!

Daily devotional

“Now when they saw the boldness and unfettered eloquence of Peter and John and perceived they were unlearned and untrained in the schools (common men with no educational advantages) they marveled; and they recognized that they had been with Jesus. And since they saw the man who had been cured standing there beside them, they could not contradict the fact or any anything in opposition.” Acts 4:13-14

What really stuck out to me here was that people recognized that they had been with Jesus. It was because of what was coming out of their mouths and the way they lived their lives – people recognized that something was different about them, because of the way they spoke, the confidence they had and the miracles that were being done. Miracles, signs and wonders will follow the preaching of the Gospel – people could not deny, contradict or oppose the very fact that a miracle had just happened. A man, lame from birth was told to get up and walk in the name of Jesus and he got up and walked. Pure and simple confidence in the healing power of God because of His love for us and because of the price that Jesus paid on the cross. John and Peter were ordinary men, nothing in the natural was special about them – but they had walked with Jesus – they had been with Jesus and in the same manner in which Jesus was, so were they. They caught the anointing, it was not taught to them. The religious people in chapter 4 were upset that John and Peter were preaching “Jesus” in the temple and that is why arrested and thrown into jail because of them preaching truth and not giving into the religious leaders. Because of their boldness to preach the Gospel about 5,000 people came to salvation.

Just like John and Peter, I want people to recognize that I have been with Jesus. There is “stereotype” of what a Christian is – but I do not want to live a normal Christian life, or to have a casual Christian life style. I do not want the title of “Christian” unless people can recognize that I have walked with Jesus. Jesus set the standard of what being a child of God looks like and then the Apostles set the standard of what being a follow and believer in Jesus looks like. Their lives are our template or our blue print in which to have a standard of how people will recognize that we have been with Jesus. Clearly, Jesus has already ascended into heaven so I cannot physically walk with Him, but that is why we have been given the Holy Spirit. Jesus was the written Word that became flesh and dwelt among us and faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. So when we hear the word of God and then act on the word of God we are being hearers and doers of the Word. By acting on the word and living out what the word says, people will then see and recognize that we have been with Jesus. When we spend time in His presence in Worship, magnifying His name, lifting Him up, declaring the Word, reading the word and praying in the Holy Spirit we are glorying Him and therefore He will be glorified through our lives. Can people say about you ” We recognize that you have walked with Jesus”?

Father in the mighty name of Jesus I am so grateful for your written Word to us – your Word is alive, living and sharper than any double edged sword and it divides our soul from our spirit. Holy Spirit minister to our hearts, help us to not to become weary in well doing, too comfortable, complacent and to never give excuses, but to take responsibility for our personal relationship with you. Your Word renews our minds, which brings illumination and revelation to our hearts, which brings heart transformation which will produce behavior modification. In the same way in which John and Peter were used by you, not because of their experience, knowledge, schooling or who they knew but simply because they had walked with Jesus I want people to recognize in me that I have walked with you too. I thank you Lord for your love for people and your love and compassion that compels me to be who you have called me to be. Stir a hunger in my heart for your word and your presence and empower me with your grace to proclaim your Gospel where ever I go. Help me to reveal Jesus, in Your mighty name…Amen, so be it!!

Eternity in the hearts of men

After this I looked and a vast host appeared which no one could count, [gathered out] of every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages. These stood before the throne and before the Lamb; they were attired in white robes, with palm branches in their hands. In loud voice they cried, saying, [Our] salvation is due to our God, Who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb [to Them we owe our deliverance]! And all the angels were standing round the throne and round the elders [of the heavenly Sanhedrin] and the four living creatures, and they fell prostrate before the throne and worshiped God. Amen! (So be it!) they cried. Blessing and glory and majesty and splendor and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and might [be ascribed] to our God to the ages and ages (forever and ever, throughout the eternities of the eternities)! Amen! (So be it!) (Revelation 7:9-12 AMP)

Too often we get so caught up in the now…what is happening in our personal lives, in the lives of our family members, in our particular cities, states, countries and nations and we forgot to put our focus and attention on the big picture of why we are doing what we are doing. The big picture here is that there is a heaven to gain and a hell to loose. This scripture above says that every nation, tribe, tongue and people will be surrounding His throne in worship. Eternity is right before us and every day there are people dying and going to hell. Hell is a very real place, but so is heaven. It is so important to have eternity branded on our hearts, because the reality of it will help us keep the big picture in mind…of why are we doing what we are doing. God’s heart is that none should perish, because He did not send Jesus into the world to condemn the world, but to save it. To save us, to redeem us, to rescue us from eternal seperation from our Heavenly Father, to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, to shower us with His loving kindness and mercy, to pour out all judgment of Jesus for our behalf . When this reality begins to take priority the little distractions will not hinder us from being the hands, feet and mouth piece of Jesus on this earth.

The only thing that we are taking with us to heaven are souls. How many do you want to take with you? There is no limit expect for the one we put on ourselves. There are billions of people in the world right now on this earth are we are surrounded every day with opportunity to make people’s eternity change. In 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 But all things are from God, who through Jesus Christ reconciled us to Himself (received us into favor, brought us into harmony with Himself) and gave us the ministry of reconciliation ( that by word and deed we might sim to bring others into harmony with Him.) It was God, (personally present) in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against (men) their trespasses (but canceling them) and committing to us the message of reconciliation ( of the restoration  to favor)”

father in the mighty name of Jesus I thank you for your divine purpose of restoring man back to you thorough the blood of Jesus Christ. I thank you father that eternity is at hand and that you have a purpose for each and everyone of us regarding kingdom business, to the ministry of reconciliation. We are not to just sit back and the work of reaching the lost to sit on the shoulders of someone else, but o God use us, in this hour and in this time. As we open our lips, fill us with the words to proclaim, as we stretch forth our hands to pray for the sick we thank you for the anointing and authority to see them healed and set free. It’s an honor to worship you with our lives here upon the earth, but God brand a vision of heaven in our hearts to keep the vision of why we are doing what we are doing. A vision of seeing all people, tribes, tongues and languages worshiping you together …. That is why we are to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

Study of 1 John part 1

And the Life [an aspect of His being] was revealed (made manifest, demonstrated), and we saw [as eyewitnesses] and are testifying to and declare to you the Life, the eternal Life [in Him] Who already existed with the Father and Who [actually] was made visible (was revealed) to us [His followers]. What we have seen and [ourselves] heard, we are also telling you, so that you too may realize and enjoy fellowship as partners and partakers with us. And [this] fellowship that we have [which is a distinguishing mark of Christians] is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ (the Messiah). (1 John 1:2, 3 AMP)

In the Word there is life. Jesus is the Word and He came to give us life and life abundantly . Because Jesus is the Word and life is in the Word, when we speak the Word life is in the Word.

The Apostle John had a first hand experience with The Lord Jesus. He was not just writing about something he read, or something he heard or had an opinion about. He was writing from a position of  knowledge not from a book, not from religion but from walking with the son of the living God. The Apostle John had the greatest revelation of the Love that Jesus had for him.  In his writings he boasted of Jesus’ love for him, not his love for Jesus. It was the knowledge that he had of Jesus’ love for him that caused him to to know the Father. Because Jesus came to represent everything that the Father is, as Jesus said if you have seen me, you have seen the Father. Jesus called John along with the other 11 disciples, but he was the only one who laid his head upon the chest of Jesus and heard his heart beat, which beat for us….the precious fruit of the earth. John was there when Jesus was crucified and Jesus told him John here is your mothers, and mother here is your son. John was not just a disciple or an apostle of The Lord Jesus, but he became family because he knew the Love that Jesus had for him that came from the Father. John said in this first chapter of 1John that what we have with the Father is a distinguishing mark of Christians…as it is a living, breathing, moving relationship because of Jesus. The bible says that we live, move and have our very being in Him. It is not a religion, but a relationship that Jesus came to restore. Our relationship with the Father is what people should see and it is a mark of what true Christianity is.

What is it that the Apostle John wants us to know here in these scriptures, the chapters, the entire book of John and from his own personal experiences? Why do people write in journals, blog, letters and so forth? Because first we need to get out what is in us, we first need to see what has happened in us and through us because of the life of Jesus. Once we see an outline of what has occurred, we want others to be effected the same way if not more. John was writing because he saw the life of Jesus in action and the effect that he not only has upon his life, but everyone He came in contact with. So the Apostle John wrote these “letters” so people could hear first, believe  and then experience. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word, and Jesus was the Word that became flesh and dwelt among them. His revelation of Gods love for Him came through the life of Jesus. So if that is how John came to know the love of the Father, then that is how we are going to know the love of the father…through the life of Jesus. His perfect love casts out all fear and it is knowing His love that will solve every situation in our lives.

Father in the precious name of Jesus I thank you that Jesus became flesh and dwelt among us. He revealed, demonstrated and manifested the kingdom of heaven here on earth. I thank you Father for the Word that brings true life into our lives and for your unconditional love and revelation upon revelation of that love that You have for us first as your children and then disciples. Just as John boasted of Jesus’  love for him, we boast of your great love for us today, rather than boasting of our love for you. Father I want to enjoy to the full my relationship with you, open the yes of my heart so that my joy may be complete in you! In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen. So be it.

Josie Rogers’ December 2013 Newsletter

Hello precious family and friends!

Can you believe we’ve passed Thanksgiving and were now headed into the Christmas season and moving quickly into 2014?!

I know we are all looking forward to what next year will hold, but I think it is just as important to take a look at what all has happened this year. We should take time to evaluate to see where we are at, what all we accomplished and so on. I was listening a minister and decided to take a hold of what he was talking about.

And this is the idea:

“The Ingathering”

“…Celebrate the Festival of Harvest with the first fruits of the crops you sow in your field. “Celebrate the Festival of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in your crops from the field. “Three times a year all the men are to appear before the Sovereign Lord. (Exodus 23:16-17 NIV)

“Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest. “Celebrate the Festival of Weeks with the first fruits of the wheat harvest, and the Festival of Ingathering at the turn of the year. Three times a year all your men are to appear before the Sovereign Lord, the God of Israel. I will drive out nations before you and enlarge your territory, and no one will covet your land when you go up three times each year to appear before the Lord your God. (Exodus 34:21-24 NIV)

It is not just the feast of the “harvest” that I am to be focusing on, but the feast of the “Ingathering.” The feast of the “Ingathering” is all about taking stock of the success of this year. Taking stock of my prayers, what has been answered and what still has yet to be answered. How many lives I impacted for the kingdom of heaven, salvation, healing…and so on. I need to take stock financially how much I have given into the kingdom of heaven and how much I have received. The end of the year is a time of gathering together all my labor to evaluate all that happened. When I take stock I find reasons to praise and worship the King. God wants me to occupy larger territories and it is my job to receive the responsibility that He has placed in my hands.

Our Christian walk with our heavenly Father is not just to affect “me” and “my house,” but the whole house of God. And when we truly take a step back and evaluate we can see where our priories are and where they have been this year.

In John 15:7-8 ” If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you. This is to my Fathers glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”

Above are some collage pictures of the last 10 1/2 months. I personally have taken stock of this year and below is part of my “Ingathering” for you to see…because you too are apart of this years harvest and ingathering.

I have traveled over 41,634 miles, hundreds hours worth of travel to 4 countries, 8 states, 25 cities and 10 different Indigenous villages. As I went from place to place the ministry was not always the same, the heart of the people was always the same. A desire to have peace with a living God and to truly know Him. Through Gospel crusades, evangelism training, evangelism, conferences, preaching to the youth and to adults thousands of lives were effected this year whether salvation, re-dedication, emotional healing, physical healing, or empowered through the Word of God…I can confidently say there is fruit of my labor all over Brazil this year and you are apart of it.

Thank you so much to those who have faithfully prayerfully and financially given to me and to the work happening in the Amazon and through out Brazil this year! Words are not enough for the love and support you have shown me.

I was not able to get on my flight back to the USA due to some complications with renewing me visa, so I am still here in Campina Grande with the hub of Rhema Brazil. I am unsure of when I will be returning at this time, so if I do not see you in the states before Christmas… Merry Christmas and a Happy New year!

if you would like to send in a last donation before “years end” You can go to

Love and blessings from you missionary to Brazil,

Josie Rogers
