Scripture: John 14:9-15

“9 Jesus answered, “For a long time I have been with you all; yet you do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. Why, then do you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe, Philip, that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I have spoken to you,” Jesus said to his disciples, “do not come from me. The Father, who remains in me, does his own work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. If not, believe because of the things I do. 12 I am telling you the truth: those who believe in me will do what I do—yes, they will do even greater things, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask for in my name, so that the Father’s glory will be shown through the Son. 14 If you ask me[d] for anything in my name, I will do it.”

Observation: I think this question is not only for Philip…but I truly believe this question still resounds for us today as His body. Jesus had replied to Philip’s statement ” shows us the father and then “we” will be satisfied. His response to this statement was that of I have already showed you and I have already revealed to you the Father. Jesus had walked with His disciples for three years as the “in flesh” representative of the Father. When we spend time with people we get really know them, not just surface level knowledge but the heart of a person. And the heart of Jesus was to completely represent the love of the Father to not only the disciples but all those He came in contact with. I believe Jesus was maybe a little bit disappointed at Philip’s request, because for three years Philip saw signs, wonders and miracles. Not only when people were sick did they receive healing through either a physical touch or a word out of the mouth of Jesus, but food was multiplied, their “religious system” was challenged, grace was presented rather than the works of man, selflessness replaced selfishness, financial provision replaced financial lack, heart restoration and healing took place, people were set free… the kingdom of heaven was revealed when Jesus walked upon the earth. In essence Jesus was saying if you cannot believe the words that are coming out of my mouth, please take inventory of all that has happened over the last three  years…what have you seen and experienced in your own life when walking with me? Because if you truly believe I am who I am representing then when I return to the Father you can ask anything in my name and I will do it, because you know who I am. Jesus represented the father, Jesus trained the disciples, so the disciples not only represented Jesus but also the Father. So that is why we can do greater works than Jesus did here on the earth, because we are representing all that the Father is because of our example of Jesus.

Application:

How often do we ask these type of questions to God….when he has revealed himself to us over and over and over again. How often do we get into non belief because of what we see, feel, hear and experience in the natural? God has clearly revealed himself to us as a loving heavenly father who provides healing, restoration, freedom, finances, favor, grace, abundance, peace, joy…all that God is Jesus represented when He walked with His disciples.  God wants us to actually believe His Word for what it says and He wants us to experience His Kingdom upon this earth. I believe Jesus would tell us as well…if you do not believe the words that are coming out of my mouth, please take inventory of all that has happened for the better in your life since you have accepted me as your lord. I challenge you to honestly take inventory of all the amazing things God has done in your life and when doubt tries to come remind yourself of all the victories that have happened because you called upon the name of Jesus. Jesus returned to the Father so we could accurately represent the love of the Father and the kingdom of heaven. When we actually believe His Word for what it says and when we actually ask anything in His Name according to the Word of God…Jesus will do it! We are do go about doing good healing all those who are oppressed by the devil (Acts 10:38) Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world: As Christ is, so are we in the world: Jesus healed the sick, not only prayed for the sick, Jesus multiplied food by breaking bread and sending his disciples out to distribute, Jesus overcame the attack of the enemy because He knew who He was. When we know who we are, who we represent and all that belongs to us as Children of the king we will not be moved because we will live by faith and not by site. We will see God use us to heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons, multiply food and most importantly see people born again.

Prayer:

Father in the mighty name of Jesus I thank you for your great love for us. I thank that Jesus represented all that you are and all that the kingdom of heaven is. I ask you Father to open the eyes of our hearts, give us revelation light of the hope to which you have called us. Help us to see past the our five natural senses and to see with our Spirit and actually believe your Word for what it says. It does not matter how many years, months or even weeks that we have walked with you, because we can testify for your great love, provision, peace, joy, restoration, salvation, healing and grace because we received Jesus as Lord. Help us today father to step out and to accurately represent You Jesus in the same way You represented heaven by healing the sick, raising the dead casting out demons, multiplying food and so much more. Father we can ask you anything according to your word and Jesus said He will do it…He will represent all that He is on our behalf to make sure that what we have asked will come to pass. I thank you Lord God for your Word and I thank you that you are working in our lives to make us even more and more like Jesus…because the bible says : it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. The life I live in the flesh I live by faith in the son of God who loved me an gave himself up for me…” Galatians 2:20
