Scripture: Acts 16:25-26
“… But about midnight, as Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the [other] prisoners were listening to them, Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the very foundations of the prison were shaken; and at once all the doors were opened and everyone’s shackles were unfastened…”
Observation: There is something so powerful that happens when we choose to lift up our voices to the king of kings and the Lord of Lords, when we lift our hands up to Him and surrender everything to Him. In His presence there is fullness of joy, in His presence there is freedom and is His presence there is breakthrough. Paul and Silas were thrown into Jail because they were proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and setting people free from the dominion of the enemy. In much darkness their light shined and exposed the works of the enemy. Rather than complaining and mumbling about being thrown in jail and what they could have, should have and would have not not to be there they chose to lift their voices to the one who could deliver them from any situation at any time. They chose to focus on the WHO rather than the WHAT they were facing. When they worshiped the Lord in their jail cell the power of God shook the very foundation and opened up gates to set them free…
Application: In our lives we can be right in the middle of Gods will and something will happen making it look as though there is no way out and we must have “missed it somewhere.” But both Paul and Silas were doing exactly what God had called them to do and that was to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to bring salvation to the Jew first and then the Greek, to bring deliverance and healing to those in need and they were thrown in jail. In Romans 8 the bible says that He will work ALL things together for our good, for those who love God and are called according to His good purpose. God used this situation that the enemy had intended for harm, division, and destruction and turned it around to display His power in setting them free, and because of that the jailer asked how he could be saved…so he received Jesus and his entire household. Even if it seems that there is no way out in the natural, lift up your voice to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, to the GREAT I AM, to the Hope to the hopeless, to the Deliverer to those who need deliverance, to the Healer to those in need of healing. So what is it that you need today…what miracles are you in need of? What impossible situation might you be in? I encourage you to worship God even if you do not feel like it. In Psalms the bible says to bless the Lord all my soul and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name. When we bless Him Holy Name our focus begins to be on Him and Who He is rather than the voice of our circumstances around us. Just as the power of God delivered them from the natural jail which was literally impossible God can and will deliver you from your circumstance when you put your complete trust an confidence in Him…not looking to the right or left or depending on “your faith” but looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. Put your faith in Jesus’ faith and His faith will deliver you and you will see the victory come to pass.
Prayer: Father in the mighty name of Jesus I thank you that you are alive. I thank you that you are seated above all power and dominion and the name of Jesus is above every other name because you have exulted Him.We are in Christ and because we are in Christ we are seated above with Him. So it does not matter what impossible situation I am facing, YOU are bigger, You are greater and Your power is available for me to see my deliverance. I chose right now to worship You. I chose right now to bless you, all my soul and all that is within me, I chose to bless your Holy Name. I chose to look to you and not at what I am facing, I choose to trust that just as your delivered Paul and Silas and turned around their circumstances for better YOU my God will do the same for me. You have done it before and you will do it again!! Your presence is all that I need. I am a lover of your presence, because I receive all that I need in your presence…rain down your peace, your joy, your love, your freedom and your wisdom upon me right now. I receive in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen. So be it.
