Scripture: 1 Timothy 2:1-6
“First of all, then, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men,
2 For kings and all who are in positions of authority or high responsibility, that [outwardly] we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life
[and inwardly] a peaceable one in all Godliness and reverence and seriousness in every way.
3 For such [praying] is good and right, and [it is] pleasing and acceptable to God our Savior,
4 Who wishes all men to be saved and [increasingly] to perceive and recognize and discern and know precisely and correctly the [divine] Truth.
5 For there [is only] one God, and [only] one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,
6 Who gave Himself as a ransom for all [people, a fact that was] attested to at the right and proper time.”
This is as clear as day, but why do we so often neglect our duty as believers and then blame God for the results? Our incredible responsibility as believers is to petition, pray, intercede and bring thanksgiving unto the Lord for the leaders of this country and also around the world. What ever place of authority they are in, our right is to pray for them, because what they do does affect our daily lives. I look at is like this; if we are not petitioning, praying, interceding, and giving thanks unto the Lord for kings, people of authority and people of high responsibility then we will not be living a quiet and peaceable and Godly life. It will be the exact opposite of what the Word of God says. It comes down to cause and effect. When we pray we see Godly results, when we don’t pray we will not see Godly results.I do not find it odd that right after Paul admonishes the church to pray for the leadership of the country, he then states that God wishes all men to be saved. The outcome of having Godly leaders in authority will produce Godly people and people will come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, because people are being pointed to Christ and not man.
This is easy to apply for our lives! We pray for those in authority, whether we like them or not and whether we agree with them or not. We do this by praying according to the Word of God over our leaders by speaking the Word of God over them and not by our own feelings or emotions.I believe we all want to see a change in our country, so lets precede this change with prayer to see the Godly results we are wanting, what do you say?!
ALSO: Today is November 6, 2012 and t is election day. We have the right and privilege to vote for those in authority in this country. So make sure you go vote TODAY, no excuses allowed. Use your right as a citizen of the United Sates of America and the freedom we have, because of all the blood that has been shed to protect our freedom and go cast your ballot, because it will make a difference!!
Father in the mighty name of Jesus I am so grateful and thankful for the opportunity to pray for those in authority of this nation. It is an honor and a privilege to be a citizen of this great country, and God I am lifting up all those in authority over this country right now. I thank you for their lives and the love that you have for them, the plan and the destiny that you have for each of them. I am asking God that any hidden agenda and any dark things would be brought to the light and exposed. That light would shine onto the darkness and all hidden things would be seen for what they are. I pray God that you would give the leaders in this country wisdom beyond their own understanding and wisdom beyond their own years and their own experiences. I ask mighty God that you would help them to walk in discretion, honor, integrity, and respect for those they are leading. And father I ask that you would stir a passion in the heart of believers and non believers alike to do their job as citizens and vote. But before they cast their ballot you would open their eyes of our hearts and give us revelation light of the hope to which you have called us and you would lead us by peace and knowledge to vote for those who are to be in authority over us as a people! I thank you Lord for your goodness, mercy, grace and love! I call today blessed and I declare that this nation walk in a greater favor than ever before because we acknowledge you as the only one and true God! In the mighty name of Jesus!! Amen!
