Scripture: Romans 4:19-21
19 He did not weaken in faith when he considered the [utter] impotence of his own body, which was as good as dead because he was about a hundred years old, or [when he considered] the barrenness of Sarah’s [deadened] womb.
20 No unbelief or distrust made him waver (doubtingly question) concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and was empowered by faith as he gave praise and glory to God,
21 Fully satisfied and assured that God was able and mighty to keep His word and to do what He had promised.
Observation: Clearly Abraham had an opportunity to allow his faith to be weakened by looking at his inability in the natural and also his wife’s inability in the natural. But thank God, God’s promises are not based on our ability in the natural to see the promise come to pass… it is all based on His character… if He has promised it, that settles it. When there are situations that come in life that look as though there is no way out, that “death”is the only option, remember Abraham’s situation… in the natural there was NO WAY that the promise that he would be the father of many nations would come to pass, but because he knew and had confidence in the character of God, his faith was not wavered based on what he saw. So he was strengthened by his continual trust in the character of God, knowing that if He said it, that settled it and nothing could stop it. He was strengthened and empowered while giving glory unto God. Rather than whining about the situation and how impossible it looked… he chose to glorify God rather than the impossibility, he chose to make God bigger rather than the circumstance.
Application: How often do we magnify the circumstance, rather than the God who can and will cause the impossible situation to become possible. As we glorify Him, we will become empowered and our faith will grow. How many of us are facing impossible circumstances? Circumstances that are only looking like “death” or giving in is the only way? I encourage you to not give in or give up. God is true to His Word, He is true to his character and what He has promised, He will perform. What He has declared in His Word, is forever settled in Heaven. What promise are you in need of today? Can you allow yourself to see past the impossibility and allow your fears to not have dominion over you? The bible says that all THINGS are possible for those that believe. You circumstance is included into ALL things… Abraham was not moved by what he saw, he trusted the God of the covenant. He made a way when there literally was not way. So he will make a way in your life when there literally is no way…He is the way maker and will show himself faithful to His children. I encourage you to continually glorify and magnify God, thank Him for His promises being activated in your life. Be empowered and build your faith, because He who promised is faithful. He will not turn back on His Word and He has never seen the righteous forsaken. He will not forsake you in your time of need. Know His Word, His promises, His character and declare what belongs to you as the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Do not be moved by what you see. Circumstances are subject to change and change they will, because God works all things together for good for those who love God and are called according to His good purpose.
Prayer: Father I am so grateful for your faithfulness even in times when I am faithless. You are ever so true to Your Word and Your character and God you will not forsake in the midst of impossible situations. Just like Abraham and Sarah stood on your promise, help us to stand on your promise and chose to not be moved even when it looks like nothing is changing. Help us to be Fully satisfied and assured that You are able and mighty to keep Your word and to do what He have promised for us as your children!! Thank you Father for you never changing love!!
I love you!
