Scripture: Hebrews 11:1 (Amplified)
“Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].”
Faith is NOW… having faith in the Word of the living God and in the character of the living God knows that if God has promised it then I have it, it belongs to me. Faith knows no limits, no boundaries and knows that nothing is impossible for those that believe. If faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not YET seen then we can know that whatever we ask the Father according to His Word, in the name of Jesus we will have in the natural right when we need it. The bible says that all the promises of God are yes and amen! So this means that it is important for us to be aware of the promises of God so we can have faith in the promises of God.
Why is faith so important, How does faith come and how do we build our faith are some good questions to find the answer to…
1. Faith is important because in Hebrews 11:6 it says that “without faith it is impossible to please God…” Faith is how our world operates. We have faith in a chair that when we sit down it will uphold our weight. So in essence we have put faith in the carpenter that created the chair for its specific purpose, which is for someone to sit in it. If we can have faith the ability of the chair to do its job in the natural, how much more can we have faith in a God who created the world for us as His children and in His promises that He has placed in His Word for us to receive. But for us to receive something we have to know that there is something for us to receive… do you know that you have something to receive from the God of heaven?
2. How does faith come? (Romans 10:17)Faith comes by hearing and hearing of the Word of God, but if I am not hearing the Word of God I cannot have faith in the God who spoke the Word. For me to have faith in the chair I am going to sit in, I sit down… I try it out. But in all reality do we go around asking the question “Is this chair going to hold my weight?” More than likely not, because we trust it. So do you trust God enough to listen to His Word and actually believe that what He says he means? I dare you to “try out” the Word of God. I can assure you that He is so much more reliable than a chair you are going to sit in. if there is an area in your life you are believing God for, then faith in God for that area will come the more you hear His word and trust His Word and not going around all day long questioning whether or not he really meant what He said!
3. How do we build our faith? Faith is like a muscle, the more you work it out the stronger you get. The more we step out in faith to actually believe God and His promises that are in His Word the more our faith will be built. So what does this look like? Are you asking God for healing in your body, for your finances, a family member, protection… all of these areas in life do have a promise from the Word of God to stand on. A while back I wrote a blog on believing God for a cup of coffee… that may seem small or insignificant, but if we can begin to trust God in the small things in life and see victory then as the “bigger” areas in life that come along we can say God you’ve provided for me in these other areas and you will provide in these ones as well.
Here are some areas in our lives that we all deal with and some promises from scripture to build your faith:
Salvation: Romans 10:8-10 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”[e] (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Health: 1 Peter 2:24 24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
Provision: Philippians 4:19 19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Protection: Psalm 91: 1-2He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
Justice: Isaiah 54:17 17 But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the ideal Servant of the Lord is reproduced]; this is the righteousness or the vindication which they obtain from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says the Lord.
Restoration: Job 42:10 10 And the Lord turned the captivity of Job and restored his fortunes, when he prayed for his friends; also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
Recompense: Isaiah 61:7-8
7 Instead of your [former] shame you shall have a twofold recompense; instead of dishonorand reproach [your people] shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double [what they had forfeited]; everlasting joy shall be theirs.
8 For I the Lord love justice; I hate robbery and wrong with violence or a burnt offering. And I will faithfully give them their recompense in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant or league with them.
Grace: Ephesians 1:2 2 May grace (God’s unmerited favor) and spiritual peace [which means peace with God and harmony, unity, and undisturbedness] be yours from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Peace: Philippians 4:7 7 And God’s peace [shall be yours, that [c]tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall [d]garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Freedom: Galatians 5:1 In [this] freedom Christ has made us free [and completely liberated us]; stand fast then, and do not be hampered and held ensnared and submit again to a yoke of slavery [which you have once put off].
Prayer: Father in the name of Jesus, I thank you for Your Word that is alive and living, it divides the soul from the Spirit. You Word Lord is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. Your Word gives us wisdom from heaven. I am asking God that as we dive into your Word with a deep hunger of knowing who You are and who we are in You faith would begin to arise on the inside of us like never before. I am asking Holy Spirit that you would be unto us our helper like the Word says you are… help us to trust You and learn to rest and rely on the promises of God that have been given to us. Faith is now in our lives. God I want to trust You in ways like never before in every area of my life… trusting in you and having faith in You means I let go completely of any control that I might want to have and hand you the reins!! I declare faith arise on the inside of me… no matter what circumstances comes my way, You are greater God. You Word is more true that my feelings and my cirumstances and what other people are saying. I chose to have faith in the impossible and see the possible happen because of faith in You Word God!
I declare these things as so in the name of Jesus. I receive by faith. AMEN!
I love you, Lord!!
