Scripture: Ephesians 2:8-9

For it is by free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that you are saved ([c]delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God;

Not because of works [not the fulfillment of the Law’s demands], lest any man should boast. [It is not the result of what anyone can possibly do, so no one can pride himself in it or take glory to himself.]

The beauty of Christianity is that it is not based on us, what we have to do to strive and what we need to attain to have peace with God. This scripture clearly says that it is by God’s free grace that we are saved. When something is free that means we we do not need to work for it. The bible says that Jesus fulfilled the works of the law and since He fulfilled the works of the law, which is the standard that God has set for man to be in right standing with Him..when we receive Jesus as our savior, we become “In Him” and just as God views Jesus, He views us… Holy, blameless,up right and in right standing with him.  God is satisfied with Jesus because of the blood that was shed on the cross, and therefore God is satisfied with us when we receive the free gift of righteousness through Jesus. We have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus, meaning the price has been paid and our payment of sin have been cleared when and if we receive the FREE gift of salvation, what Jesus did on the cross. He who knew no sin became sin, that we may become the righteousness of God in Christ. This means that all glory and boasting in our salvation goes to Jesus, not us and it takes all the pressure off because Jesus paid it all, for us all! Now this is the good news… it is not about religion, but about a relationship with the God of Glory who made a way for us to be in right standing with Him, based solely on Jesus not on anything we do.
Have you ever been stumped with what to say when sharing the Gospel with someone? Well, you are not alone! It does not have to be hard and confusing… the Gospel is simple, because you are simply sharing the love of God with someone. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, for who ever would believe in Him, would not perish,but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) For someone be have faith to believe in what Jesus did the Gospel must be shared, because people cannot have faith in something that they have not heard. The bible says that we are saved by grace and through faith in the son of the living God. This means that we believe in our heart that Jesus is the Son of God,   He died on the cross for all sin of mankind, God raised him from the dead and He lives today. When we believe in our heart and confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus we are saved. Salvation is not hard to attain, it is not something we strive for… it is all about receiving.
So the  next time you are sharing the Gospel with someone… keep it simple, bring it back to love and the relationship that God wants to have with them. Forgiveness of sin happens when people confess the Lord Jesus and receive His gift of righteousness. People cannot redeem themselves, they cannot clear the payment of sin in their own ability, only the payment of sin is paid in full by the blood of Jesus.. not by being a good person, or doing the right things all the time.. only Jesus 🙂

Prayer: If you have never led someone in a prayer of salvation, or if you yourself have never prayed the prayer of salvation, you can right now! If this is your first time, I encourage you to go tell someone what just happened in your heart. The bible says that when you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, you are cleansed from all unrighteousness and the Spirit of the living God comes to dwell on the inside of you and He will never leave you or forsake you.

Father, I thank you for Your astounding love for us! You are so good and your are ever so faithful. I thank you father that you have made a way for us to be in right standing with you and I am so great full that I do not need to strive to make it happen, it is simply calling on the name of Jesus and resting in His finished work. Your word says that if we believe in our hearts and confess with our mouth we will be saved… so right now God I declare that I believe that Jesus is  Your son, He died on the cross for my sins, I believe that you rose Him from the dead and I believe that He lives today. Jesus I am asking that you would forgive me of my sins, I am asking You to come into my heart and be my Lord and savior. Fill me with Your love, joy and peace. I thank you that you are now my heavenly Father and you will never leave me. I receive your grace toward me now and I believe by faith right now, in the name of Jesus! Amen!
