Scripture: Psalm 139:13-17
13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. 17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!
What is our perspective of how God views us? In all honesty, how do we view him? He is not a far off distant God who desires to have no relationship with whom He created for a purpose and a destiny! In this passage King David is reminding himself who created him, how he was created, and the very thoughts that God Almighty thinks about him. He had to remind himself of God’s love for him in the midst of adversity and hard times in life. King David was saying “How precious are your thoughts towards me, O God, how vast is the sum of them..” David did not have a covenant based on the finished work on the cross, because of the blood of Jesus… but he was still living in the old covenant. He knew the loving mercy and compassion that the Lord had and that it was directed to him. David also says here that God has a book with his life written down… does that mean that we are predestined to live like robots.. no, that just means that God has a plan for our lives, he has the perfect direction in which we are to walk… but because of our own free will we have a choice to chose His path, or ours… things do not always work out in which the Lord had intended, but He will always turn around every situation to make it better than before if we would give him permission to move in our lives. How intricately we were made and how precious we are to God… our bodies were made so uniquely, it is incredible how the human body functions as it does… God is a creative God… and He has good things for his Children… He desires for us to know Him, His heart of love towards us, His healing power to bring restoration, health, provision, peace and so much more. But If we do not see God for who He is… how can we receive ALL who He is?
Just like David needed to remind himself of Who God is, his love toward him, his thoughts toward him and his plans for him… I think it is important that we also remind ourselves of who God is, His love toward us, his numerous precious thoughts toward us and His good plans and purposes for us… because when we remind ourselves we begin to get our perspective right… right believe creates right thinking and right thinking will cause us to live out all the things God has for us.. but if our perspective is wrong, then our thinking will be wrong and as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. By meditating on the goodness of God and who we are in Him, we begin to raise the condition of our heart and when we raise the condition of our heart we are more effectively able to be who God has called us to be and live life in victory even in the midst of hardships that will come in life!!
Father, I thank you so much for your unconditional love for us, I thank you that we were fearfully and wonderfully made by You. You created us beautiful, you created us with a destiny and purpose and your thoughts towards us are precious. In the beginning, after you created you said “It is good..” Father we as your children are the crown of Your creation, we are precious and beautiful in your sight. You so desire for us to truly know who you are, to truly understand your love that is always drawing us near to you. God just as David needed to remind himself of these things so his perspective could change, I am asking that you will help us to continue reminding our selves of who you are and who we are in You, because when we do so the condition of our heart will raise and as we think in our hearts, so are we… thank you father for opening the eyes of our heart to truly see who you are, all that you are and who we are in you.
God, I thank you for your Word. Your Word is alive and living and never returns back void. I thank you for your Love, your mercy, grace and kindness that are following us all the days of our lives!! I declare these things as so, in the name of Jesus. Amen, so be it!
