Scripture: Ephesians 3:14-20

14 For this reason [[d]seeing the greatness of this plan by which you are built together in Christ], I bow my knees before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

15 For Whom every family in heaven and on earth is named [that Father from Whom all fatherhood takes its title and derives its name].

16 May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality].

17 May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love,

18 That you may have the power and be strong to apprehend and grasp with all the saints [God’s devoted people, the experience of that love] what is the breadth and length and height and depth [of it];

19 [That you may really come] to know [practically, [e]through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses [f]mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] [g]unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and [h]become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]!

20 Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]—

Observation:

As the body of Christ we are to pray for one another, build each other up and encourage each other in the Word of God. The Word of God is alive and living and sharper that any double edged sword, dividing the soul from the spirit. Also, the fervent and effectual prayer of a righteous man avails much and makes tremendous power available! (James 5:16) When we pray the Word of God over people, we are speaking life over them, and declaring the kingdom of God over them. Because the Word of God never returns back void, we can know that when we pray the Word of God over people we will see results, because the Word is Spirit and is life. This Epistle prayer is so powerful and so effective, because it is focusing on being rooted deep in love and founded in love. When we as people truly begin to understand the love of God toward us, in us and through us we can walk in not just head knowledge, but in an experience that no man can refute. When we have truly experienced the love of God, we will not be the same.. because it is His love that brings healing, restoration, peace, strength, drives out fear… and is honestly everything that we need! So when we are praying this epistle prayer over ourselves and over other people I encourage us all to really think about what we are speaking and let it sink into the very depth of our hearts to then see the results we are longing for!!

Application:

So how do we know that we are being “effective” in prayer? Prayer does not need to be long and eloquent… drawn out and wordy.. prayers are words that come from the heart.. it is not just about asking God to do something, but it is also about worshiping him, thanking him and just allowing him to help us to pray what we do not know how to pray in our own understanding. When we speak the Word of God over our family and friends we can know with out a shadow of a doubt that we will see results, because Gods word “goes forth and will accomplish that which it is sent to do..” So I challenge us all to ask the Lord for a specific person that He would have us as an individual to be praying for… to focus in on that person and believe God for incredible results and to see His word come to pass over that persons life! How about we pray this specific epistle prayer over them..!!

Prayer:

Father in the name of Jesus, I thank you for Your truth, Your goodness, mercy and loving kindness! Thank you father for  giving us the opportunity to pray over people, to declare Your word and to see Your Word at work in their lives! I ask God that you would continue to open the eyes of our hearts and help us to hear your voice and be confident when praying, to speak the Word over people with all boldness with an expectant heart full of knowing knowing that we will begin to see the fruit of our prayers!!

Thank you Father for being ever so true to Your Word! I give you all the glory, all the praise and all the Honor! I call today blessed, because this is the day that You have made and I will rejoice and be glad in it!! Jesus, your name is above every other name, my trust is in you, so therefore I will never be put to shame!!

I love you!! Amen, so be it!
