Scripture: Judges 6:12-16

12And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, The Lord is with you, you mighty man of [fearless] courage.

13And Gideon said to him, O sir, if the Lord is with us, why is all this befallen us? And where are all His wondrous works of which our fathers told us, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? But now the Lord has forsaken us and given us into the hand of Midian.

14The Lord turned to him and said, Go in this your might, and you shall save Israel from the hand of Midian. Have I not sent you?

15Gideon said to Him, Oh Lord, how can I deliver Israel? Behold, my clan is the poorest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.

16The Lord said to him, Surely I will be with you, and you shall smite the Midianites as one man.

Gideon tried to discredit himself from what the Lord had planned based on who he was in society. He did not think he was able to accomplish and succeed what the Lord had spoken to him to do. God did not see him for how society saw him, but who He had called him to be and what he had called him to do. God saw the greatness on the inside of him, even when no one else did. God called him a mighty man of fearless courage, and at that specific time I am sure he did not feel like a mighty man of fearless courage considering he was hiding from the Midianites. God did not allow Gideon’s feelings of inadequacy determine whether or not He was going to fulfill His plan through him. Gideon ended up saying yes to the Lord, and allowed the Lord to fulfill what He said He would do. God gave Gideon a strategy for the deliverance of the people of Israel, and he followed that strategy and victory was theirs!

Just like in Gideon’s situation he did not see himself capable for the task ahead, there are many of us today who feel the same way. We allow either our circumstance, our failures, successes, fears, worries, family and so on to dictate whether or not we will take a step of faith to do what the Lord has put on our heart. If we never step out and try, then we will never know what we truly are capable of with the help of heaven on our side. This applies to every aspect of our lives… small or big… faith without works is dead and when we do put our faith in the Lord Jesus to help us accomplish a specific task, idea, vision or dream… He will give us a strategy to walk it out successfully!!

Father I ask in the name of Jesus that you would help us to see ourselves the way you do. That in you there is nothing impossible, even though in the natural it may seem impossible. Just like you gave to Gideon all that he needed to walk in victory and set the people of Israel free from the hand of the Midianites, you will give us a strategy to walk out victoriously what you have put in our heart to do! I thank you that your Word is true and when you speak you Word does go forth to accomplish all that is it sent to do. You Word has been spoken over our lives and I am asking God that we will walk out all that is written down in heaven for our lives!! God I ask that you would help us to trust you in a way that we have never needed to before. The vision and the dream that you put within our hearts is bigger than us, help us to allow you to pave the way and we take a step of faith! I love you father and I trust in your unfailing love towards us!!!
