Scripture: Genesis 45:24-28

24So he sent his brothers away, and they departed, and he said to them, See that you do not disagree (get excited, quarrel) along the road.

25So they went up out of Egypt and came into the land of Canaan to Jacob their father,

26And they said to him, Joseph is still alive! And he is governor over all the land of Egypt! And Jacob’s heart began to stop beating and [he almost] fainted, for he did not believe them.

27But when they told him all the words of Joseph which he had said to them, and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived [and warmth and life returned].

28And Israel said, It is enough! Joseph my son is still alive. I will go and see him before I die.

You can clearly see here that something is going on with a group of brothers who went into Egypt for some reason, and then were told to go back to Canaan to their father. To understand the significance of these scriptures I want to briefly explain what happened in the past that makes this journey so incredible. Jacob a man who lives in Canaan, who is the father of 12 sons lost a son many years past, he never knew officially what had happened, but figured he had gotten killed in some horrific accident. So he had 11 sons left. It turned out that this particular son, named Joseph was Jacob’s prized son, whom he favored. His brothers did not understand why he received so much favor from their father, and because of their jealousy they decided to have their brother trapped and sold into slavery. This event happened, but Joseph kept his trust in the Lord, no matter how bad life had gotten… in short he was in the pit, Potiphar’s home and then the head of Pharro’s   land. The favor of the Lord was upon him where ever he went… no mater what the enemy used  to discourage him, wipe him out or even kill him he continued to stand and walk in the favor of the Lord because his trust was solely in the faithfulness of the Lord. So at this particular time in these scriptures above there was a famine in the land then a few of Jacob’s other sons were sent to Egypt to gain favor and find provision of food. Joseph, the head of Pharro’s land recognized his brothers, but they did not recognize him… he had them go through the “ringer” and then disclosed his identity and made great provisions for all of his brothers, his father and the entire company that was with Jacob.

In the natural it looks like Joseph was literally thrown under the bus, left alone, down and out. But, he would not have pity on himself, he chose to keep his trust in the Lord and God’s hand upon him would cause him to see life victoriously. God completely brought restoration to Joseph, his brothers and his family. He, in his heart had to forgive the horrible act that his brothers committed. His perspective was on the Lord, God is bigger than any circumstance that I am in and He is faithful to return to me what was stolen from me an make it better than if it ha ever happened. But How many times in our lives do horrible circumstances come our way and we are unable to move forward because of “what was done to us” But when we are able to forgive, move forward and allow the hand of the Lord to bring us through with His favor upon our lives, how much more can the healing power of restoration actually bring restoration to those broken relationships, dreams, self worth, value…what ever it is… God is more than able to help walk us through and restore to us what the enemy has stolen and make it better than before!!! He makes the impossible possible!

Lord, just as you were with Joseph through the many trials, tribulations and disapointments you were also the One with your hand upon his life causing him to walk in supernatural favor. I choose right now to not get caught up in self pity, but to allow your love to work in me and through me to forgive who I need to forgive and watch the situation turn around for the better, because your favor is upon my life. You cause divine appointments and divine connects to happen… I ask for success this day. God you are the repairer of the breach and the mender of the broken hearted, you restore back to me the years the the locusts have stolen. I declare a seven fold recompense, and my life better than before! Your word is truth, so I declare your truth prevail in my life and I speak joy of the Holy Spirit that gives me strength!! I receive rest from you, because I can rest in the finished work of the cross! In Jesus name…so be it…AMEN!
